Nagtibba-Peak of Nag Devta...

Nagtibba...Shikhar of Nag Devta... proudly takes the honour of my first trekking destination...

Nagtibba is situated to the northeast of the Dehradun Valley in Garhwal Mountain Range and the peak register an altitude of 3048 mts/9972 ft above sea level...The shepherds come to this ridge top to worship the Nag Devta. Nagtibba offers an excellent view of the mountain peaks in all directions. To reach the top one has to pass through dense forest.

Well, these are the information that we gathered from internet and we (me and one of my colleague Tanzeem, who had already done a number of trekking) were set out for trekking...

Day 1: 20/03/2008
From ISBT Delhi we took a volvo to Dehradun.

Day 2: 21/03/2008

We arrived in Dehradun early in the morning and check in a hotel to freshen up. We took our tents and meal and hire a Indica from Dehradun to Pantwari via Mussoorie (85kms.) . We had our breakfast in Fauzi Dhaba just after leaving Dehradun with yummy egg-maggie and a cup of refreshing tea.

We planned to start trekking immidiately after reaching Pantwari and camp over the hill. We got to Pantwari at 3.30PM and took our guide Anil. He suggested its quite late to climb over the hill and said its possible complete the whole trek on a single day. So, we took a small room in the village itself and went for a small walk.

The glowing sun setting down...

Walk was quite relexing after 5hrs of long journey....

Oh... It was full moon on that day... I tried to capture it with my little camera... had our dinner with rice and daal...Anil said we gonna start trekking very early on the next day...so we went to bed quite early and fall in sound sleep...
Day 3: 22/03/08
Good Morning Pantwari...
we woke up early next day... and start climbing up at 6o'clock... sun dint rise as we would have liked to see as sky was not so clear...
First hour of an trek is always tough...and soon we have our first halt...thats Tanzeem and Anil..

A small Hut on a medow...nobody stays here, these properties belong to the villagers...
Here comes your narrator...ooops thats me only...
This time of the year, Rhododrandon blooms... we saw a lots of red rhododradon flowering...

Tanzeem and Anil relexing... Tanzeem...same pose again..lol...
No doubt this trek offer some beautiful panaromic view.. click on the image to have a better look...
Lots of walk through medows.. and forests too...

Thats the forest guest house..deserted...

Finally we are at Nagtibba Mandir..

We relexed here and had our lunch with Maggie (prepared by me)..

Nagtibba peak is 3 kms from here...and its already 11o'clock... Anil said it will much steeper than what we had traversed so far.. Anil gave us two option either "we will climb up to the peak or he will take us through the jungle to the other side of the hill where there two Tals (pond).. but both wont be possible.." we opted the second one...

A dead tree partial blocked the road...
Forests and more forests...

Thats the other side of the hill from where we came..and the guest house.. we travelled quite swiftly...hadly took half an hour to be here...
That is the first tal.. Anil said during winter ice makes an small film on the pond..
Here come his partner...Second tal...
Another Panaromic view...

I tried to get Airtel Network...Sadly no network was there...
On the way met shepherds... hundereds of sheep and goats are there...
We relexed again..
Smart Doggie...what you say????
Shephards..they entertained us with tasty tea...
Babyy is so sweetheart...
Well time to get back... slope become steeper... and almost difficult to walk... running down seemed to be a better option..

OMG... clouds coming up... and you never know when its gonna rain...Hurrey up Buddy...
Its getting really darker...
Path is no more favourable for running down...
Although clouds are scaring..but it was looking awesome...
It starts pouring... fortunately we got a small shelter...
Finally dizzle stopped.. village is not too far... but trek become little risky... all got slippery...
And...thats Pantwari village...
its only 3.30 in the evening and we completed a really long trek... we will take the rest for the day...

Day4: 23/03/08
Today Sun rose up early to say good bye...
Last few moments in this peaceful, graceful lovely village... some more snaps of Pantwari.....
Here comes Hotelwala Chacha... he served us with some really tasty foods...

We booked a local van to Dehradun...and leave this holy place at 7.30am...
camera was still on and clicked some really amzing picture...

Thats Kempty Fall... a major tourist attraction...
from Dehradun we took a volvo to Delhi and arrived Gurgaon by evening....followed by a long long sleep...
It was my first trek... and I can say i fall in love with Mighty Himalaya...
Cheers...
